The California Delta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta has consistently been one of the most involved and scholarly chapters at the University of Southern California. With every member of the chapter involved in an average of two extra curricular activities, many with leadership roles, and brothers helping other brothers to succeed in their classes, it was no surprise when the Spring 2012 grade report was released. California Delta received an average GPA of a 3.29, ranking the chapter as #1 in scholarship within the Interfraternity Council for a chapter with over 100 members. California Delta not only beat the All Men’s Average of a 3.09 and the All Undergraduate Average of a 3.14, but they also beat the All Greek Average of a 3.28.
The chapter has also seen success recently when it comes to philanthropy. Every year, the men of California Delta get together to put on a philanthropy called Phi Delta FIFA. In this event, sororities battle on the soccer field to claim first place! Throughout the week, T-shirts are sold, change jars are distributed around campus, the chapter holds a philanthropic dinner and the week culminates in the soccer tournament. All of the proceeds of the tournament go to The ALS Association. The brothers also plan to participate in the Walk to Defeat ALS later in October. This year, a few of the sponsors for the event included: Chipotle, 5 Hour Energy, and Red Bull. This year, California Delta is taking a semester-long approach to raising money for ALS. The chapter has already raised close to $5,000 to donate to The ALS Association.
