Dr. Robert Allen Endowed Scholarship History

The Dr. Robert Allen Endowed Scholarship has been created to honor Brother Dr. Robert Allen, Bond #726. Brother Allen was a four-time legacy to the Phi Delta Theta Oklahoma Beta Chapter. His father, Wayne Allen #220, his uncle Bob Hillier #286, his brother David Allen #723, and his cousin Brian Hillier #972 all were members of the Oklahoma Beta Chapter. Additionally, Brother Allen served as Chapter President while an active member at Oklahoma Beta. In Brother Allen’s memory, the scholarship is used to promote the ideals of scholarship and leadership supported by Phi Delta Theta Oklahoma Beta fraternity.

Dr. Robert Allen graduated from Oklahoma State University in 1984 with a B.S. in biochemistry. Brother Allen then attended Johns Hopkins University where he graduated with his M.D., specializing in neuroradiology. Brother Allen completed his residency in radiology at the University of Missouri, after which he performed post-graduate training in neuroradiology at the University of Utah. In 1991, Brother Allen married Charlisa Faulkner, a physician and graduate of the University of Missouri, with whom he had two children, Joshua and Jennifer. Brother Allen settled in Paradise Valley, Arizona, practicing radiology in Scottsdale and other cities in Arizona.  Brother Allen was also an entrepreneur who founded two radiology companies in Tucson and Scottsdale, Arizona.

To honor Brother Allen, the Oklahoma Beta Building Association along with the Allen family established a fundraising effort in combination with The Pickens Legacy Scholarship Match Program.  The fundraising efforts have now provided the Phi Delta Theta Oklahoma Beta Chapter with the ability to award its first scholarship in Fall 2012.  Each year proceeds from the endowed scholarship will continue to be used to fund scholarships in the name of Brother Dr. Robert Allen for those Phi Delta Theta Oklahoma Beta brothers who excel in scholarship and leadership.
