On Sunday, March 3, the Brothers and Phikeias of Illinois Alpha enjoyed a delicious dinner in the chapter house with Northwestern University President Morton O. “Morty” Schapiro. The meal, which was arranged by Brother Corey Moss, included lively conversation and a question and answer period where the brothers learned President Schapiro’s thoughts on everything from fraternity and sorority life on Northwestern’s campus to the future of higher education in the United States.

The brothers and President Schapiro had a great time at the dinner. While many were able to meet Northwestern’s President for the first time during their collegiate careers, President Schapiro was able to see the inner-workings of the Illinois Alpha Chapter. Continually during his visit, Schapiro noted the true family atmosphere that the chapter exuded, and he was quite fond of the dinner served.

Schapiro, a Professor of Economics and a leading authority in the economics of higher education, became the sixteenth President of Northwestern University on December 16, 2008. This is the first time that Schapiro has been to the Illinois Alpha Chapter house for dinner in recent memory, but after the great experience he had, the chapter is certain that it will not be his last.
