The Valley of the Sun Alumni Club created the Phoenix Award in 2002 to recognize a chapter that has shown dramatic improvement over the course of the previous academic year. The winner is selected based on their improvement in 14 critical areas of chapter operations as well as additional information provided by the Province President, General Headquarters staff and university officials.
Winner: Texas Beta – The University of Texas at Austin
The Texas Beta Chapter at The University of Texas at Austin is this year’s Phoenix Award winner and displayed fiscal responsibility during the acquisition of a new chapter house and boasted a meticulously maintained budget. Annual planning and goal setting enabled Texas Beta to transform the chapter and, as a result, catch the eye of administrators, volunteers, and leadership consultants who recommended them for this award.
During the past academic year, Texas Beta nearly doubled the size of their chapter, increased their cumulative GPA, and partnered to run a philanthropy crawfish boil that raised almost $120,000.
Congratulations to the brothers of Texas Beta for a tremendous year!
