On December 6, the California Pi Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at San Diego State presented a philanthropy event titled “Little Drummer Phis” to benefit the Seany Foundation. The Seany Foundation is a local nonprofit organization that works to improve the lives of children with cancer. The chapter has been working all semester with various sponsors and lighting companies to put on the two hour event. California Pi used its chapter house as a canvas to sync thousands of Christmas lights to music and put on a show for the entire SDSU community.

Overall, the chapter raised over $800 during the two hours the show was running. Once the 10 minute show was over, bystanders and community members were able to enter the chapter house and buy holiday treats, hot chocolate, hot cider and decorate ornaments to put on the chapter’s Christmas tree. The chapter considers this event an incredible success and have already started the planning process for next December’s event.
