The Missouri Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Washington University has a strong tradition of dressing up in camouflage and going to all of the home basketball games to cheer on the Men’s basketball team, in which four of the team’s five starters are brothers of Phi Delta Theta. Throughout campus, this student section is widely regarded as the “Bomb Squad.” Of course, the “Bomb Squad” likes to pride itself on being the best student sections in all of Division III athletics, but this year the chapter realized that the “Bomb Squad” could make a greater impact than just supporting a few basketball games.

Over the next two months, the Missouri Gamma Chapter will implementing a program called “Bomb Squad Gives Back,” raising money to send care packages to different soldiers in the Phi Delta Theta and Washington University Community. Each game, the “Bomb Squad” will raise money in order to send care packages along with a picture of the student section. Missouri Gamma is passionate about the opportunity to give back to those who give us so much every day.

Preparation of donation packages has already begun with plans to send them to Washington University alumni serving in the Marine Corps in Afghanistan as well as to the USO Bargain Naval Base. The Missouri Gamma Chapter would love to gather names of Phi Delt troops to add to the list of care packages. There are still open slots for more soldiers to donate to in the coming weeks and any and all nominations would be appreciated. Please send any names of Phi Delt troops to Ross Chukerman at rwchuk@gmail.com.
