On April 5th, the men of Idaho Alpha at the University of Idaho held their 56th annual Turtle Derby, a philanthropic event that is hosted during the University’s Mom’s Weekend each year. This year, the event raised more than $2,600 for The ALS Association’s Evergreen Chapter. Funds were raised through sorority baskets, raffles, business donations and pie that Phi auctions. Approximately 600 people attended the Turtle Derby, and it was supported by Monster Energy, Dutch Bros., Grub Food Truck and The Perch. The event itself entertains the crowd with skits performed by the participating sororities and a race of live red-eared slider turtles that come from an alumnus’ pond. The event is a UI tradition that continues to grow every year.
