On Friday, April 11th, more than 70 Phis from Indiana Gamma participated in the 12-hour Relay for Life at Butler University. For the past three years, the planning committee has consisted of many Indiana Gamma Phis including the CAC President and Event Co-Chair roles. When the event ended, the Phi Delt team was named Top Fundraising Greek Chapter and Top Spirited Greek Chapter for the third year in a row. But it was not these accolades that made the night special.
During the Fightback Ceremony, 31 Phis shaved their heads in honor of Brother Mike “Trigger” Perugini and raised over $350 for the American Cancer Society. During the fall semester, Mike was diagnosed with cancer and had to leave Butler in order to receive chemotherapy at home in New Jersey. Mike was unable to attend Relay this year because of doctor appointments, but he was definitely on the minds of this brothers while they walked the track at Relay. Mike hopes to visit his brothers before graduation in May. The Indiana Gamma Chapter raised $8,500+ of the $53,000 raised at the conclusion of the 2014 Relay for Life.
