On June 5th, Eastern Washington University held its annual EWU Student Leadership Excellence Awards presented by Dean of Students Dr. Amy Johnson. There were many awards given out for individuals and student groups across campus. Among the smaller awards given out were Intramural Athletes of the Year, City of Cheney Service Award, Greek Man and Woman of the Year, Outstanding Student Organization and many more.

Among the highest awards given that night were the Soaring Eagle Student, which exemplifies the most involved student on campus, and the Soaring Eagle Staff, which is the most involved staff member. The most prestigious award that is given every year is the President’s Cup, which is given out to the most outstanding student organization in every category. With its $12,000 raised for Iron Phi, 300+ hours of community service, 3.09 Cumulative GPA, and overall university involvement, Phi Delta Theta Washington Epsilon won the President’s Cup. Last year, the chapter won the “runner-up” award to the President’s Cup called the Outstanding Student Organization, but through more hard work and dedication, the chapter took home the greatest hardware in 2014. This is also the first time in EWU history that an IFC fraternity has won the award.
