The North Carolina Gamma Chapter of Phi Delta Theta at Davidson College held their 3rd annual Phis For GIs event in Davidson, North Carolina on Saturday, November 8th, which culminated their semester-long effort to raise money for a North Carolina-based nonprofit called “Support U.S. Armed Forces.”
Chapter President Tim Hines announced on Wednesday morning that the Fraternity would be writing a $15,000 check to the organization.
“Our third year of Phis For GIs was our best yet. Through generous online contributions, partnerships with local restaurants, and a variety of other avenues, our Fraternity was able to raise $15,000 for military veterans and their families this semester, far surpassing fundraising totals in the previous two years,” Hines announced.
“We decided three years ago that we wanted to focus our philanthropic efforts on serving those who have first served us, and Support U.S. Armed Forces is an organization that caught our attention as one that is truly making a difference in the lives of veterans and their families,” Hines continued. “The brothers of Phi Delta Theta care deeply about thanking, honoring, and serving our military veterans, and our success this year exemplifies that passion and commitment. ”
Support U.S. Armed Forces actively serves and assists military veterans and their families by providing deployment care packages, family assistance care packages, transitional programs and hosting military appreciation events.
In total, the brothers of North Carolina Gamma have raised over $35,000 for Support U.S. Armed Forces in the past three years. The event’s webpage can be found at www.PhisForGIs.com
