The Utah Alpha Chapter is proud to have been recognized with the University of Utah’s ‘Group Commitment to Service Award’ for the year at last night’s Student Leadership Awards Ceremony. The award recognizes one student group each year on campus for its commitment to service including philanthropy, community service, service to the broader university community, advocacy and activism.
The chapter was recognized for its on-going commitment to the fight against ALS as well as its fund raising for cancer research and community service involvement with a number of local organizations. The award also recognizes the chapter for its leadership and involvement in many campus organizations as well as involvement in advocacy and activism during the recent political season.
The award is one of the highest honors a student group at the U can be recognized with, and the chapter is extremely proud to have been acknowledged in this manner. A number of Utah Alpha Phis, who played instrumental roles in our involvement this past year, were on hand for the award presentation.
Phi Delta Theta was the only Greek organization honored at this year’s Leadership Awards Ceremony. The chapter appreciated having the opportunity to be honored by University of Utah President Dr. David Pershing and his wife Dr. Sandi Pershing; Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Barbara Snyder; and Dean of Students Lori McDonald.
