At Creighton University’s annual graduation ceremony, Brother John McCoy was awarded the “Spirit of Creighton Award,” the highest honor for a graduating senior. The award is given by the University President to the graduating student who best embodies the credo of Creighton University. This is the second year in a row that this prestigious award has been given to a Nebraska Gamma Phi.
Brother McCoy had an incredible impact on the university during his four years on campus, serving two terms as the student body president, a campus ministry retreat leader, honors student and a leading researcher in the Political Science department. With all of these activities and accomplishments, Brother McCoy found time to be a very active Phi, serving as warden and attending the Kleberg Emerging Leaders Institute. Brother McCoy is a shining example of the three Cardinal Principles at work.
We are so proud of our grandson. He has showed the qualities of honesty and sharing since he was a boy. John is a kind and thoughtful young man to us over many years. I am happy others have recognized his hard work and Christian principles.
