Brothers from the Florida Xi Chapter at Florida Gulf Coast University recently threw on superhero suits and contributed towards an important cause. Ivan Rodriguez (Batman), Matthew Colasanti (Spider-man), and Vic Acevedo (Wolverine) participated in the Energy for Life Walkathon to help raise awareness and money for the United Mitochondrial Disease Foundation.
Each year, anywhere from 1,000 to 4,000 children in the United States will be born with a mitochondrial disease, a life threatening disease. One of these childrenis Gavin Lawrey – The Mighty Mito Superhero. He is a strong fighter and now a close friend of the Phi Delt Superheroes. Although it was a successful event, the fight continues. The brothers of Phi Delta Theta Florida Xi are committed to help raise awareness for Mitochondrial Disease.
