Zach Betscher, who served as Ohio Epsilon’s president in 2014, vice-president in 2013, and on the IFC executive council, should have had the opportunity to cross the stage at his graduation this week. Instead, he was in the hospital recovering from appendicitis. Not wanting him to miss out on the occasion, a Phikeia stepped up to create something special.
Phikeia Sterling Galehouse and Zach’s girlfriend Stephanie Weber, a member of Alpha Delta Pi Sorority, reached out to The University of Akron to organize an impromptu graduation in the hospital. Lauri Thrope (Vice President of Enrollment Management), Zachary Steiner (Assistant Director of Off Campus Student Services), Ravi Krovi PhD. (Dean of The College of Business Administration) and Willy Kollman (Director of Alumni Relations) helped to organize a small graduation ceremony for Brother Betscher in his hospital room. Thanks to all those involved, Betscher was able still able to enjoy a memorable graduation ceremony surrounded by friends, family and brothers.
Betscher graduated from The University of Akron with a B.S. in accounting. Ohio Epsilon would like to thank Zach for his many contributions to Phi Delta Theta and The University of Akron and we wish him a speedy recovery. Zach is excited to start full time with Cohen & Company in January.
