At the University of Alberta’s annual Greek Formal hosted by the Order of Omega, Alberta Alpha Phi Matthew Barker received the title of Greek of the Year. The honor of Greek of the Year is handed out by the Order of Omega in recognition of one individual’s leadership, scholarship, community spirit and commitment to the Greek system.

Currently the President and Risk Management Chairman of the Alberta Alpha Chapter, Brother Barker has held numerous positions both inside and outside of Phi Delt. He previously served as the chapter’s Awards Chairman and as Recruitment Chair for a year and a half following his initiation. Under his guidance, Alberta Alpha consecutively recruited their three largest Phikeia classes in over a decade.

Outside of Phi Delta Theta, Brother Barker served as Vice President Public Relations for the University of Alberta InterFraternity Council from September 2015 until February 2016. Last October, he was selected for initiation into the Order of Omega Greek Honor Society.

Aside from his various positions and offices, Matt exemplifies inter fraternal involvement, supporting many chapters on campus in their philanthropic efforts and participating in many different Greek events.
