The University of Virginia Office of Fraternity and Sorority Life recently held its annual Greek Awards Banquet, and the brothers of Virginia Beta certainly represented well. The chapter took home four awards that evening.

Outstanding Chapter of the Year: Virginia Beta was recognized as the top fraternity chapter at the entire University out of 32 fraternities in total. This is an honor and a distinction of which the chapter is very proud and one that they feel accurately reflects the character and drive within the chapter.

Outstanding President of the Year — Patrick Kyle: In helping to spearhead IFC reform this past year, establishing the chapter’s first ever need-based scholarship, creating a brand new Alumni Relations Chairman within the chapter, and allowing the chapter house to be used for the University’s new sexual violence prevention module, Patrick (pictured middle) served his chapter and the greater UVA community in some remarkable ways and was truly deserving of this award.

Fraternity Man of the Year — Nick Favaloro: Not only has Nick (pictured left) served the Fraternity as Housing Chair and now as President, he has also served the greater Greek community through his involvement in One in Four, UVA’s all male sexual violence prevention group. Nick poured in countless hours to the new “Dorms Norms” initiative — driven by his passion for serving the University and helping to make it a better and safer place. Nick helped to foster conversations about bystander intervention and create healthy cultural norms among thousands of new UVA students. Moreover, he is a true role model and leader within the chapter.

Outstanding Emerging Leader — Erik Roberts: Throughout the Phikeia process, Erik revitalized many processes and made it his personal responsibility to ensure that all of his pledge brothers were completing their responsibilities in a timely manner. He spearheaded house cleans and the house project and even served as the chapter’s Recruitment Chair this past spring, working hard to oversee a successful recruitment process for the chapter and organizing events that accurately reflect the character of Phi Delta Theta. The chapter is excited to see what else Erik can accomplish during his time in this chapter.
