On October 20, Texas Beta hosted its inaugural Casino Night, raising $4,000 out of the $9,070 donated this fall semester for The ALS Association’s Texas chapter. With more than 150 people in attendance, the event was a great success. The event featured poker, blackjack, and roulette games at The Madison dance club, complete with an upstairs VIP section that featured its own tables and gift bags for attendees. Food for the event was catered from Plucker’s Wing Bar and Fat Sal’s Deli. There was also a raffle that included prizes from local business and a signed Shaka Smart basketball.
The event had a great turnout and The ALS Association was incredibly grateful for the donation. Executive Director Tanner Hockensmith stated, “We are grateful for the outstanding support of the Phi Delta Theta chapter at UT. The members of this chapter have shown exemplary commitment to the fight against ALS, not only through fundraising with the Walk to Defeat ALS, but also through the numerous volunteer hours they’ve served with the Texas Chapter.”
The men of Texas Beta look forward to continuing the fight against ALS and look to make the Casino Night their largest annual philanthropy event.
