Phi Delta Theta Welcomes Five New Leadership Consultants

Phi Delta Theta recently welcomed five new leadership consultants to Oxford. Throughout the summer, they will experience in-depth training as they prepare to work with the Fraternity’s undergraduate chapters, colonies and volunteers during the 2016-17 academic year.

Gavin Knies – Western Kentucky – Expansion

Brother Knies graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Double Major – a Musical Bachelor of Arts emphasized in Vocal Music, an Agricultural Bachelor of Science with the emphasis in Animal Science along with a minor in Sales. He played a vital role in the re-installation of the Kentucky Eta Chapter in 2014 as a Re-founding Father serving as the Chorister, Public Relations Chairman, Homecoming Chairman, and Social Chairman. Gavin was also inducted into the Greek Hall of Fame as an outstanding WKU Greek Member.

While at WKU, Brother Knies worked for the C-USA Hilltopper Athletic Foundation’s Athletic Mascot Program, was a WKU Ambassador and a member/officer in the WKU Redshirts, sang in the men’s a cappella choir group and traveled to Spain as a member of WKU’s premiere vocal ensemble, The WKU Chorale.

Gavin is from Lexington, Kentucky and is a proponent of trying anything new whether it be a skill, activity, or food. In his free time, Gavin enjoys traveling, playing and watching sports, and catching up with friends and family.


Kyle Brown – Northern Arizona – Chapter Services & Expansion

Kyle was born in the Bay Area of California and grew up in a small town near Lake Tahoe called Pollock Pines. He joined the Arizona Gamma (Northern Arizona University) Chapter of Phi Delta Theta in the Fall of 2013, where he served as Public Relations Chairman, Director of Housing Operations, and President. During his time at Arizona Gamma, Kyle also served on the Order of Omega and Greeks Advocating the Mature Management of Alcohol (G.A.M.M.A) Executive Boards. He received the Greek Man of the Year Award at Northern Arizona University in 2017.

In his spare time, Kyle enjoys volunteering with organizations like the Boy Scouts of America and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes. On top of that, Kyle is absolutely hooked on fantasy football and generally manages 5-6 teams a season. Being from the Bay Area in California, Kyle roots for the World-Champion Golden State Warriors, San Francisco Giants, San Jose Sharks, and the San Francisco 49ers.

During the upcoming school-year, Kyle will spend half of the semester visiting the chapters in his region and the other half recruiting on Phi Delta Theta expansion projects.

Landon Killion – Nebraska, Kearney – Expansion

Brother Killion graduated with a Bachelors of Science degree in Sports Management and Marketing/Management from the University of Nebraska – Kearney. He initiated into the Nebraska Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta in the Fall of 2013. Landon held the positions of Phikeia Educator, Chapter President, and Recruitment Chairman for the chapter during his time as an undergraduate.

Apart from the Fraternity, Landon capitalized on his collegiate career by being a Student Orientation Leader, sitting on Student Government, working full time, and also being the Fraternity and Sorority Life Intern for a semester. What he enjoyed most was volunteering his time to give back to the community with his chapter brothers.

After his time as an Expansion Consultant, Landon is planning on getting his Masters in Sports Administration from the University of Ohio and beginning his journey towards making an impact in the world of collegiate athletics. In his free time, Landon enjoys spending time with his family, relaxing at the lake, and listening to anything put out by Barstool Sports.


Nash Cantrell – Chapter Services & Expansion

Brother Cantrell graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Economics as well as minor degrees in Political Science and Leadership Studies from the University of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. During his undergraduate career, he served the Utah Alpha Chapter as Warden, Phikeia Educator, and Chapter President. Nash also received several honors within fraternity life including Phi of the Year twice and IFC President of the Year.

Nash was also involved outside of Phi Delta Theta playing two seasons of lacrosse for the Utes and serving as a Business Intern at Rice-Eccles Stadium on campus. After the two-year journey as a Leadership Consultant, Brother Cantrell plans to complete his Masters of Economics and continue serving the Fraternity in whatever way he is capable.  On the weekends, Nash enjoys vacationing, skiing, and playing lacrosse with friends.

Nick Brennan – Cornell – Chapter Services

Brother Brennan graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Communication and a minor in Inequality Studies from Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. During his time at the New York Alpha Chapter, he served as the House Manager, Historian, and Risk Manager.

Nick was also active outside of the chapter as he worked as a Zamboni driver at Cornell University’s Lynah Rink and conducted research in the University’s Communication department. He was also a volunteer at Youth Outreach Undergraduates Reshaping Success (YOURS) where he worked to foster positive life skills among underprivileged youth.

After the two-year commitment as a Leadership Consultant, Nick plans on obtaining his M.P.P. and beginning a career in politics and public service. In his free time, Nick enjoys hiking, reading, and rooting for the Cleveland Indians, Cavaliers, Buffalo Sabres, and the New England Patriots.
