In an effort to continue to promote Phi Delta Theta’s long-term growth and expansion strategies, Phi Delta Theta is proud to announce a succession plan for its Director of Expansion position.
Starting December 15, Alex Atkinson will assume the role of Director of Expansion. Brother Atkinson most recently served as an Expansion Consultant where he helped establish colonies at Oklahoma State University, The George Washington University, University of Memphis, and Seton Hall University. Prior to his time with the General Headquarters, Atkinson joined the Missouri Eta Chapter and graduated from Missouri Western State University where he received his degree in speech communication with a concentration in public relations.
“I am both honored and humbled to be given the opportunity to continue my career and serve the Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters as Director of Expansion. I am very excited to be a part of this team as we strive to be the premier fraternal leadership development organization in North America. We have set the bar high for ourselves as a Fraternity, and I believe we are on the path and ready to exceed expectations,” said Atkinson.
As Director of Expansion, Alex is tasked with leading the expansion program of the General Fraternity and coordinates activities and services involved directly with the development of new chapters of Phi Delta Theta that will result in the successful installation of 200 chapters by 2020. These endeavors are conducted in consultation with the General Council, Survey Commission, the Expansion Team and the Growth Team.
Until the scheduled transition, Atkinson will be working with current Director of Expansion, Tucker Barney, who will be pursuing other opportunities in the coming months. Tucker has led the Expansion Team since the spring of 2015, resulting in the installation of 19 chapters and nearly 900 initiates. His dedication to the organization will leave a lasting legacy following his transition and departure.
“My time working for Phi Delta Theta has truly been special, and I would not trade the experiences I have had for anything. Special thanks go out to Moe Stephens, Sean Wagner, Steve Good, and Michael Wahba for guiding me over the past several years. They, along with many other Phi Delts, embody what it means to be a fraternity man and a fraternal leader, and I consider myself lucky to have learned from them for so long. It’s bittersweet to close this chapter in my life, but I am excited for what comes next,” said Barney.
