Phi Delta Theta Supports New Hazing Law

Recently, Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards signed the “Max Gruver Law” into effect. In support of this effort to enact stronger penalties on hazing, General Council President Jeff Davis sent the letter below to Governor Edwards.

Since the tragic loss of Max Gruver, expulsion of those responsible for his death, and immediate closure of the Louisiana Beta Chapter, Phi Delta Theta began the process to begin a thorough review all of the Fraternity’s health and safety initiatives. This has initially resulted in the creation of required bystander and new member education, a Good Samaritan policy, and enhanced parental communication. Additional programming will be forthcoming, but in the meantime, we ask each member “To Do What Ought To Be Done” whenever appropriate to help eradicate hazing.
