Fabian Donate – UNLV

Nevada State Senator

Road to Greatness

The Clark County Commission of Las Vegas, Nevada has appointed Fabian Donate UNLV ’18 to fill the vacancy in State Senate District 10, which was formerly held by Yvanna Cancela who has joined the Biden Administration in the US Department of Health and Human Services.

Brother Donate will focus on improving public health and services, as well as supporting the state during its recovery from the greatest public health crisis of our lifetime. As the son of Mexican immigrants and Culinary Union members, he understands the challenges working families and marginalized communities face on a daily basis.

“Growing up, I watched my father struggle with a language barrier through his Type 2 diabetes diagnosis. I will fight to ensure that all Nevadans have access to reliable health care, especially now as this pandemic continues to have far-reaching and devastating impacts,” Donate shared.

Brother Donate is the first in his family to graduate from college and obtain a graduate degree. He earned his bachelor of science in public health from UNLV, and completed his master of health administration at the University of Maryland, College Park. Also, he most recently served on President Biden’s Health Policy Committee.

His service with Phi Delta Theta has been quite extensive, including serving as chapter president for the Nevada Beta Chapter. While attending graduate school, he served on the Chapter Advisory Board for Maryland Alpha.

“I’m honored to be a member of this Fraternity, and I’m forever inspired by the teachings instilled by our brotherhood. Phi Delt was an instrumental part of my early adulthood, I’m thankful for the lifelong friendships and mentorships that I’ve gained along the way. Proud to be A Phi!”
