Sherrod Davis, Davidson ’14 named 2021 Best in Tech Award recipient by the Baltimore Business Journal. Davis started with Protenus in Baltimore, Maryland because of his clear and compelling vision for compliance analytics. In addition, he worked with leadership to build a coalition initiative aimed at addressing racial inequities in the tech space, called Baltimore Tracks.
He builds culture within organizations by continually focusing on building relationships and promoting alignment across business lines to drive positive change. Davis is passionate about technology startups and focused on building businesses that improve people’s lives.
Davis is chief of staff at Protenus and focuses on strategic and operational initiatives including business ops, fundraising and investor relations, people ops, DEI, culture, and strategic partnerships, and business development.
Prior to Protenus, Davis served as head of operations and chief of staff at empower in Mclean Virginia, and helped launch the first market in Winston-Salem, as a founding team member, and built operational processes designed to scale as we focused on our mission to decentralize the gig economy.
From 2018 – 2019 Davis served as vice president and business development and operations coordinator for TrackOFF (acquired by Avast Software) where he improved business productivity while growing the team from around 10 to 40 people in a year through the development of recruitment and pipeline procedures. He successfully optimized efficiency and 3.5x bookings through the synchronization of marketing, engineering, and sales efforts. He ensured 300 percent business growth while implementing strategic initiatives and streamlining routine operations.
Prior to TrackOFF, Davis cofounded AdWap, where he created business model, branding, user experience, and go-to-market strategy through consistent communication with three teammates and four advisors. He secured over $20K donation turnover by encouraging and recruiting up to 100 national and international charities to join the AdWap platform. He deployed expert management and analytical skills while increasing user-base to over 10K individual accounts and convinced advertisers to add AdWap to their marketing strategy, which resulted in achieving 90 percent revenue.
As Inmar client value manager from 2014-2015, Davis raised the value of Inmar’s services to foster professional relationships with twelve retail clients to assist them in achieving corporate objectives. He researched and improved key performance indicators for customers by evaluating marketing, operations, and financial data; and served as a focal point in administering over $1.5 million in revenue retention and expansion from existing clients.
In 2013-14, Davis received his master of arts in management at Wake Forest Schools of business and served as a graduate student consultant to improve brand awareness and ticket sales revenue of the ACC women’s basketball tournament.
As an associate at FullCircle Ventures in the summer of 2013, he was responsible for researching and securing sponsors for FullCircle representatives and building relationships with and between companies for future endeavors

He graduated from Davidson College in 2013 and MBA from Wake Forest in 2014.
