Phi Delta Theta Returns to the University of Cincinnati with the Induction of the Ohio Theta Emerging Chapter

11.28.2022

On November 20, 2022, Phi Delta Theta formally inducted the Ohio Theta Emerging Chapter at the University of Cincinnati. Originally founded in 1898 as the fourth Greek organization chartered at UC, Ohio Theta has initiated over two thousand men into the chapter with a lengthy list of notable alumni and rich history. With a short break in chapter operations in early 2022, Phi Delta Theta is proud to fully return to Cincinnati with a group of twenty-four new founders who are surrounded by engaged alumni volunteers.

Throughout the fall semester, the Ohio Theta expansion efforts were driven by Phi Delta Theta Recruitment Specialist Zach Stringer, Hanover ’22. With the rich history of the chapter, Zach spent his time searching for eager and distinguished young men who wanted to challenge the stereotypical Greek life norms and strive to build an organization that truly reflected the values of becoming the greatest version of themselves. In response, he found a diverse group of men across campus who quickly realized the opportunity that presented itself and accepted the challenge of building an organization focused on brotherhood and leaving a positive legacy at Cincinnati.

The founders are supported by a group of enthusiastic volunteers, including alumni from Ohio Theta and several other chapters. The chapter advisory board will be spearheaded by Matt McGlasson, Cincinnati ’17. The alumni are driven to support and guide this group through to initiation and beyond to reestablish Ohio Theta as a prominent chapter in the Cincinnati Greek community.

As the Ohio Theta Emerging Chapter rejoins the UC Greek community, Emerging Chapter President Jack Ward looks forward to leading this group stating, “recruiting twenty-four guys from nothing was a feat in itself at UC. And now being inducted as the Ohio Theta Emerging Chapter, there is a lot of momentum going into the spring semester. The guys are eager to get this chapter moving, and it makes me excited to see what we will achieve!”

Phi Delta Theta congratulates the Founders of Ohio Theta on their return to campus and is excited to celebrate their accomplishments in the future.

  3. Ohio Theta guys, I am SO EXCITED that you have brought our chapter back to UC. When I pledged in 1956, it was the beginning of a relationship with hundreds of outstanding young men and marked the start of important personal growth. I will always remember the young men of Digby Avenue. Wow! We had some great times together, some hilarious adventures, a powerful presence on campus. At 84years old, Phi Delta Theta remains an essential part of my Identity. John C. Weschler, Bond No. 925
