Ryder Hankins Named Arthur R. Priest Recipient

The Phi Delta Theta Foundation is pleased to announce Ryder R. Hankins, UNLV ’22, as the 2022–23 recipient of the Arthur R. Priest award. The Arthur R. Priest award is the Foundation’s largest and most prestigious scholarship and is awarded to the student who scores the highest based on merit.

Ryder’s scholarship application was accompanied by a glowing recommendation from his Chapter Advisory Board Chair Peter C. Dreissig, Utah ’86.  Peter says, “Ryder is a perfect example of a Phi Delta Theta brother. He is a friend, has a strong academic record, and is honest and open with his communication. I am grateful to have him as a Phi brother and wholeheartedly recommend him for a scholarship.”

Currently studying business with a focus on international relations, Ryder hopes to earn his master’s degree and work internationally after finishing school. His application specifically spoke of using Phi Delta Theta’s Cardinal Principles to remain resilient while working in a foreign country, “I hope to focus my career on understanding how cultural and societal differences impact consumer decisions between countries. My dream has always been to live and work internationally. The Cardinal Principles of Phi Delta Theta will guide me in that process.” He describes using Friendship to connect with others, Sound Learning to broaden his perspectives and remain committed in a foreign land, and Rectitude to remain grounded and conduct ethical business.

Please join the Phi Delta Theta Foundation in congratulating Ryder on this achievement and wishing him the best in his future endeavors!

Recently, alumnus Thomas Van Dyke, Kansas ’60, pledged a $25,000 match to the Arthur R. Priest Fund with the goal of increasing the fund so that an exceptional student can be awarded $10,000 annually. You can contribute to this goal today and have your donation matched.
