Morgan Chesky

National Correspondent for NBC News

National Correspondent for NBC News based in Los Angeles, Chesky has become a familiar face to viewers during moments of national crisis. His reporting has brought clarity to complex stories, including coverage of Los Angeles wildfires, Texas Hill Country flooding, and other breaking news events that demand both speed and sensitivity.

A graduate of Sam Houston State University, Chesky began his career in Texas, reporting for KVUE News in Austin and KLTV in Tyler, where he covered major events including the Fort Hood mass shooting. These early experiences cemented his commitment to reporting stories that matter most when communities are at their most vulnerable.

Before joining NBC News, Chesky anchored and reported for KOMO 4 News in Seattle, where he served as a weekday evening anchor and lead breaking-news reporter. During his tenure, he distinguished himself not only behind the anchor desk but also in the field. One of his most notable assignments came when he led a crew on the first West Coast flight to Cuba in more than fifty years, producing a week-long series that earned a regional Edward R. Murrow Award.

In 2016, Chesky received two regional Emmy Awards—one for his investigation into a decades-old cold case involving the disappearance of a young girl from the Seattle area, and another recognizing his overall excellence as a general assignment reporter.

Prior to Seattle, Chesky reported in Oklahoma, where his journalism took on life-changing significance. In 2013, he was among the first reporters on the ground when an EF-5 tornado devastated Moore, Oklahoma. In the aftermath, his reporting directly helped reunite parents with children after an elementary school suffered a direct hit—an experience that continues to shape his approach to storytelling.
