Indiana Alpha (Indiana) Phi Matt Wilkinson recently received the prestigious honor of being selected as one of the recipients of the 2014 Kate Hevner Mueller Outstanding Senior Award. This award is given to a select group of seniors at Indiana who have proven themselves to be exceptional leaders both inside and outside of the classroom.
Matt has done just that by maintaining a high quality academic record while having extensive involvement in campus and fraternity activities. Matt has served as president of the 160-member Indiana Alpha Chapter of Phi Delta Theta, as a member of the Corporate Relations Committee for the Indiana University Dance Marathon that benefits the Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, and as a chair on the Indiana Memorial Union Board of Student Directors. Matt also serves the community through his involvement with the local Boys and Girls Club.
Matt’s involvement demonstrates his high level of maturity, leadership ability and self-motivation. He has been a great leader and role model for the brothers of Indiana Alpha, and he motivates others to reach goals of their own. During his final semester on campus, Matt has spent much time helping others develop their resumes while learning how to network to obtain internships. Upon receiving this award at an Honors convocation, Matt stated that being president of Phi Delta Theta was his greatest leadership experience at Indiana University. He has certainly fulfilled the motto of leaving the chapter better than it was when he joined. Matt will be missed after he graduates this May, but his strong attributes and his experiences as a member of the chapter will allow him to be an outstanding success in his post-graduate career.
