Matthew S. Pittman, UT Arlington ’97, is the CEO and owner of Meat Church, a global lifestyle BBQ brand that offers craft BBQ seasonings, apparel, recipes, and instructions. Matthew grew up cooking BBQ in his native state of Texas. Growing up, he spent the summers cooking with his grandmother and says he has been around food since. Now, Meat Church has one of the largest social media reaches in the world of outdoor cooking. Pittman has competed on BBQ Pitmasters, where the idea of Meat Church began.
In preparation for the competition, Matthew began packaging his unique spice blends and rubs. Even though he ended up in last place on BBQ Pitmasters, Matthew had gained publicity for his products. After four years of running Meat Church out of his house in Waxahachie, Texas, Meat Church had surpassed one million dollars in total sales.
“Meat Church brings people together to make great memories around good food. Our goal is to get everyone outside cooking no matter the type of grill or smoker owned because all food tastes better when it’s cooked outside.”
Today, Matt spends his time creating, teaching, and sharing his meat passion with others. When Matt isn’t spreading the “good word of wood-fired flavor,” he spends his time at home with his wife and four kids.
