On February 18, 2023, the Michigan Eta Emerging Chapter at Western Michigan University was installed as a chapter of Phi Delta Theta.
This expansion project started in the spring of 2021 when senior expansion consultant Greg Rush arrived in Kalamazoo. A total of twenty-nine men united with one goal: to change the standard of fraternities on campus and commit to the Cardinal Principles.
Western Michigan University of Kalamazoo, Michigan, is home to the Broncos and to highly ranked music, business, theater, engineering, and aviation programs. A culture of organization and determination has been with the chapter since it was installed virtually on April 14, 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic.
During their time on campus as an emerging chapter of Phi Delta Theta, Michigan Eta emphasized community engagement and a structured brotherhood events program, which they plan to continue moving forward.
General Council President Moe Stephens II led the initiation ceremony for the new brothers at the Kanley Chapel on campus on the evening of February 17, 2023. Thirty members of Michigan Eta are now proud brothers in The Bond. On the following day, the Michigan Eta installation ceremony was conducted by General Council President Moe Stephens, Province President Michael Boulter, Director of Chapter Support Emily Wolfzorn, and Chapter Support Coordinator Mason Whitis.
The Michigan Eta Chapter has been led by many; most recently, chapter president Carter MacEwen. “We’re all ecstatic that after two long years, we were able to install and have our moment. Our journey is only just beginning, and we can’t wait to get the ball rolling!”
With the introduction of Phi Delta Theta at Western Michigan University, the brothers of Michigan Eta have led by example through their mission to create positive change through fraternity and sorority life.
