Adam Michael Hasner, born on November 25, 1969, in Brooklyn, New York, is an American attorney and politician with a distinguished career in public service and the private sector. Raised in northern Palm Beach County, Florida, he is the son of two dedicated public school educators and a proud product of the local public school system. He earned a bachelor’s degree in government and politics, with a minor in communications, from the University of Maryland in 1991, where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta. He has served as a Chapter Advisory Board (CAB) Chair for Phi Delta Theta and most recently helped to establish the Maryland Alpha Terrapin Fund as a loyal donor to the Phi Delta Theta Foundation.
From 2002 to 2010, Hasner served as a member of the Florida House of Representatives, representing District 87. During his tenure, he was appointed deputy majority leader in 2007 and later became the majority leader, making him the first legislator from Palm Beach County to hold this position in over fifty years and the first Jewish Republican majority leader. In 2012, he was the Republican nominee for Florida’s 22nd congressional district.
Following his legislative service, Hasner transitioned to the private sector, where he held leadership roles, including serving as executive vice president for public policy at The GEO Group, a Florida-based company specializing in private corrections and detention management.
On February 10, 2025, the Florida Atlantic University (FAU) board of trustees unanimously selected Hasner as the university’s eighth president, citing his extensive experience in public policy and his deep connections within the state as valuable assets for advancing the institution’s mission. Hasner’s diverse background in law, politics, and business positions him uniquely to lead FAU into its next chapter, leveraging his strategic insight and leadership experience to benefit the university community.
