Data Protection and Privacy Pledge

Phi Delta Theta understands the importance of protecting Member data and maintaining the highest standards of data privacy, and we are committed to upholding these principles and continuously improving our data protection practices.. Our collection and use of personal information is also subject to this privacy policy.

As part of these efforts, this Data Protection Pledge outlines our expectations of you and secures your commitment to safeguarding the information shared with you.

This pledge applies to any data collected, processed, or shared with you with the consent of Phi Delta Theta Members and Alumni.

I pledge that, in requesting Member personal data from Phi Delta Theta, I recognize the critical importance of safeguarding personal data and am committed to upholding the highest standards of data protection. I pledge to adhere to the following principles and responsibilities:

  • Data Confidentiality: I understand and acknowledge that personal data entrusted to me is confidential. I will treat such data with the utmost care and ensure it is not disclosed to unauthorized individuals, including sharing the data without prior approval by Phi Delta Theta.
  • Purpose Limitation: I will only process the personal data for a legitimate purpose that has been reviewed and approved by Phi Delta Theta. Any use of personal data will be consistent with the purposes for which it was collected and provided to me, and I will not profile, harvest, or collect additional information about Members without their consent.
  • Data Minimization: I will only request the minimum amount of personal data necessary for the intended purpose – unnecessary or excessive data collection is to be avoided.
  • Data Security: I will implement and adhere to security measures to protect personal data from unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. This includes safeguarding physical documents, electronic files, and any other form of personal data by using encryption to store and transmit data, and multi-factor authentication and strong passwords to access devices and systems. I will not transmit, even inadvertently, any materials that contain a virus or other harmful or disruptive content.
  • Data Subject Rights: I will respect and promptly address any requests made by individuals or by Phi Delta Theta to suspend the use of, correct, or delete personal data.
  • Reporting and Escalation: I will promptly report any suspected or actual breaches to Phi Delta Theta, including the unauthorized access, alteration or destruction of any personal data provided to me.
  • Data Retention: I will retain the personal data for only as long as needed to accomplish the objective and will securely dispose of the data when no longer needed.

By taking this pledge, I acknowledge my responsibility in preserving the privacy and security of personal data and in maintaining the trust of Phi Delta Theta Members and Alumni. I pledge and commit to following and integrating these principles into the actions taken with Phi Delta Theta personal data.
