On Friday, May 23, twenty young Scottish entrepreneurs pitched their hearts out to a panel of expert judges in a dragons den style event at RBS Global Headquarters in Edinburgh as part of the We Are The Future challenge. These twenty were already winners having made it through to the final from an initial entry of over one hundred.
Each entrant pitched and responded to searching questions from an experienced judging panel. After long deliberation, the judges were able to select just six winners, who will take part in a week-long program of events and meet-ups in California. The trip will include visits to Silicon Valley to meet with technology giants Apple, Ebay and Hewlett Packard; a masterclass delivered by a leading Techstars coach; time with local young entrepreneurs operating from world renowned accelerators including Y-Combinator, Rocket Space and 500 Startups and several leading VCs. The week-long visit will culminate in the first ever Scottish Start Up Summit which will be held in San Francisco on July 26.
One of the six winners was Calum Leslie, a Texas Beta (Texas) Phi and creator of Wooju an App that allows you to snap & solve indecisive moments with your friends help. Wooju allows users to snap pictures, ask a yes or no questions and send to friends to let them help make decisions!
