Washington Alpha Phi Delt Chris Lim took the gold for the heavyweight class at the NCBA (National College Boxing Association) West Coast Regional tournament in Reno, Nevada on March 15, 2014.
After claiming his title of “Best in the West,” Chris took 3rd place at the NCBA National tournament in West Point, New York on April 5, 2014.
Chris has been an active member and Vice President of UW’s boxing team for the past 3 years. He helps run the 4-week long try out boot camp for the team, and he is involved in the panel that selects the members who make the cut. He manages boxing practice in the absence of the coaches and assists with the development of newer members. Brother Lim also gives presentations to prestigious members of the Seattle community in order to raise the profile of the team and raise money to cover travel costs.
In addition to his active role on the boxing team and Phi Delta Theta, Chris is also the captain of the school’s water polo team. He manages the team budget and works with the Intramural Activities Center to secure training facilities for the team. Brother Lim helped walk the new coaches through the team dynamics, strengths, and weaknesses during the coaching change in 2013. Under Chris’ leadership, the Husky Water Polo team ranked as the 9th best in the nation during the 2013-2014 season.
