Texas Theta Phis Eddie Pando (left) and Caleb Castillo (right) were two of five West Texas A&M University students selected by WTAMU to attend the Latino Leadership Initiative sponsored by Harvard’s Kennedy School Center for Public Leadership and Texas A&M International University. The purpose of the Institute is to enhance the leadership capacity and understanding of a cadre of students committed to serving the Latino community; help participants form a strong and durable bond among themselves and with other leaders; and inspire participants to view their own possibilities for leadership and professional achievement as limitless.
Students must be a junior at the time of application, plan to be on campus for their entire senior year, be a U.S. citizen, legal permanent resident, or legal U.S. visitor with a valid visa and passport and have at least a 3.20 grade point average. Upon completion, the students will work with the WTAMU Office of Student Affairs to complete a community action project aimed at assisting Latino students in the region. The Institute is June 8-13 on the campus of TAMU.
