Evan Newman of the West Virginia Gamma Colony at West Liberty University was recently elected President of the Student Body. He and his running mate, Jeffrey Tice, ran on three key positions: experience, dedication, and connections. They will attempt to use their experience and connections to bring better entertainment to the small campus. They also look to use their connections to create a better environment for students by keeping campus restaurants open longer and working with the WLU Institutional Advancement to enhance the Student Union. The pair also hopes to foster closer relationships with all clubs and organizations at the University.
Brother Newman is a Sophomore Communications Studies Major with a Minor in Marketing. He has served as Freshman Class President (2012-’13) and Executive Treasurer (2013-’14) to the Student Government Association. During that time, he served on the Communications, Food Services and Finance Committees. Newman has also had the privilege of serving as a Resident Assistant and Admissions Ambassador on campus. Within Phi Delta Theta, Newman serves as the Scholarship Chair and is active on the Palace, Judicial and Executive committees.
West Virginia Gamma also had another brother elected to the WLU Student Government Association’s Student Senate. Senior Cory Voll was elected as a Senator-At-Large. Cory will also use his graphic design experience to work with the Student Senate as the Communications Director.
