Georgia’s Phi Delta Theta Alumni Clubs and Chapters Announce 2017 Hall of Fame Inductees

The Georgia Phi Delta Theta alumni clubs and undergraduate chapters have announced the 2017 Phi Delta Theta Georgia Alumni Hall of Fame Inductees.

The 13 inductees will be honored throughout the month at various Founders Day celebrations across the state. These events are hosted by undergraduate chapters at the University of Georgia, Mercer University, Georgia Tech University, Georgia Southern University, University of West Georgia as well as the Atlanta, Middle Georgia, and Savannah alumni clubs.

The 2017 Phi Delta Theta Georgia Alumni Hall of Fame inductees are:

  • James R. Borders (Georgia Tech ‘83), President and CEO, Novare Group
  • Mark B. Chandler (Georgia ’78), Founder and President, Habersham Properties
  • John M. Couric, Jr. (Mercer  ‘41), Vice President of Public Relations, National Association of Broadcasters
  • Austin Deray (Mercer ‘07), Graduate Professional Assistant, George Mason University
  • Lee Epting (Emory ‘64), Founder, Epting Events
  • Daniel L. Gordon (Emory ’99), Chief Operating Officer, City of Atlanta
  • Darrell D. Lowell (Kansas State ’53), President and Chairman of the Board, The Eighth Air Force Historical Society, Inc.
  • John C. McGoogan III: (Georgia ‘78), President, The Prestwick Capital Group
  • Robby Miller (Georgia ‘82), Co-founder, Millers Brothers Ltd.
  • David P. Millett (Denison ’60), Executive Vice President, Civil Aviation Medical Association
  • Charles D. Moseley, Jr. (Georgia Tech ‘62), Founder, Noro-Moseley Partners
  • Richard Orr (Butler ’84), Executive Director Communications and Marketing, Thiel College
  • Benjamin J. Tarbutton, III (Georgia Tech ‘91), Assistant Vice President, Sandersville Railroad Company

The Georgia Alumni Hall of Fame annually recognizes Fraternity alumni in or from the state of Georgia having made a significant impact on the Fraternity, and/or professionally and civically on a local, national or global front. “Since Phi Delta Theta colonized at Oglethorpe College in 1871, Phi Delts have played an important role in Georgia history having produced governors, CEOs, college presidents, soldiers, actors, and business owners, just to name a few,” said Travis McCloskey, President, Phi Delta Theta Alumni Club of Atlanta.

Established in 2015, the Hall of Fame selection committee includes the current presidents from each of the undergraduate and alumni chapters. Past inductees include state senator Sam Nunn (Georgia Tech ‘57), Otis B. “Sonny” Shroyer (Georgia ‘57), and Capricorn Records co-founder Alan Walden (Mercer ‘14).

The Georgia alumni clubs are among Phi Delta Theta’s oldest. Over the years, they have included many prominent members of their local communities. The Clubs’ mission is to provide a social and professional networking forum for the more than 6,000 alumni across the state representing more than 150 undergraduate chapters.
