Govind Chhina – Georgia

Pursuit of Greatness
Govind Chhina – Georgia

Phi Delta Theta saw the raw potential in Govind Chhina when recruiting the Georgia Alpha re-founding fathers who would be tasked with re-establishing the University of Georgia Chapter. In two short years, Brother Chhina has demonstrated his leadership abilities and currently serves as chapter president.

It wasn’t surprising when Govind was tapped to lead UGA’s newly-formed Interfraternity Council Diversity Council. As the group’s first head chairman, he and his committee have been tasked with promoting diversity across UGA’s IFC Greek community.

“The ideals that Phi Delta Theta embodies have helped shape my character and will stay with me throughout my entire life. I want to take advantage of these experiences and help change the social dynamic within Greek life at UGA,” said Chhina.

Indian by heritage, the Tifton, Georgia resident is also proud to be UGA’s first non-white chapter president among its 26 IFC member fraternities.

Brother Chhina stated, “These opportunities are a testament to the culture we have established at Georgia Alpha and Phi Delta Theta. It’s inspiring to know that my Fraternity is leading the way on many current issues including racial diversity.”

A biology major, Govind has his sights set on medical school and plans to become a physician.

“I’ll never forget the amount of work and time that I have put into this Fraternity, and I plan to use this passion as a road map for all of my future endeavors,” said Chhina.
