Students at West Texas A&M University have elected Landry Morren as their student body president for 2016-2017, but they will head to the polls one more time to vote in a run-off election for the vice president position.
Morren, a senior advertising/public relations and broadcast electronic media major from Floydada, took 666 votes in the two-person race for student body president. He is active in Rogers LEAD WT and serves as recruitment chair for Phi Delta Theta, president of Campus Services, vice chairman for the Tradition Council and Greek adviser to the student body president.
As president, Morren will preside over the executive branch of the Student Government, serving as the principal liaison between WTAMU students and the faculty, staff and administration. He also will serve as the official student spokesperson for the University at the local, system, state and national levels. The president also is responsible for appointing students to University standing committees and is accountable for seeing that all provisions of the WTAMU Constitution are faithfully executed.
