Kansas Delta Phi Matt Conklin was elected Student Body President at Wichita State University during last week’s Student Government election. As the Student Body President, Matt will represent over 14,000 undergraduate and graduate students at Wichita State. He will be responsible for advocating on behalf of students and student organizations to state officials, university administrators, and the greater Wichita community. Matt is happy to have selected his good friend and former president of Sigma Alpha Epsilon, Brandon Baltzell, as his Vice-Presidential running mate. They are looking forward to leading the student body during this exciting period of growth at Wichita State.
Brother Conklin is a junior studying history and economics with an emphasis in the Middle East. He has served in Student Government since his freshman year, including two terms as an At-Large Senator and currently as Treasurer. Additionally, Matt served as the Interfraternity Council President last year and is now Chair of the Expansion Committee. He has also given back to the university as a Student Ambassador and voting member on the Union Corporation Board of Directors and Student Fees Committee. Within Phi Delta Theta, Matt has served as Pledge Class President, Historian, Risk Management Chair, Treasurer, and is the current President.
Kansas Delta has now had a member elected Student Body President for the past three years. Matt is excited to advocate for the diverse student body as the university continues to improve in all ways. After graduation, Matt intends to pursue graduate school and begin a career in public service. He appreciates his fraternity brothers, family and friends for their continued support.
