Brother Max Darrow of Phi Delta Theta’s New York Epsilon Chapter at Syracuse University was recently awarded the Radio Television Digital News Foundation’s (RTDNF) Pete Wilson Scholarship. Max is a senior Broadcast and Digital Journalism Major at Syracuse and just finished the penultimate semester of his major. The RTDNF describes the scholarship as “granted to an undergraduate or graduate journalism student from the Bay Area who shares Wilson’s commitment to ethical, responsible journalism.” Brother Darrow is from San Francisco, California.
After he was awarded the scholarship, Brother Darrow told RTDNF, “I am extremely honored to be this year’s recipient of the Pete Wilson Scholarship. As an aspiring storyteller, this further fuels my passion for journalism. I hope that my journey will bring honor to Pete’s name. A huge thank you to the RTDNF for this opportunity. It means so much!”
While at Syracuse University, Brother Darrow has spent the majority of his time at the student-run television station CitrusTV. He is a weekly news anchor for the station’s 6 O’Clock news program and the host of “Talking Points,” the only student-run political news show on campus. Max has a wealth of experience in the industry as well, interning at KION NewsChannel 5 in Salinas, California, NBC 10 in Philadelphia and CBS 5 in San Francisco.
