Paul Troup – Purdue

Paul Troup, Indiana Theta ’63, is what some might call a modern-day renaissance man. Quiet, confident, and complex, he shows himself to be equally at home in the boardroom, the country club, and racing classic cars.

As a resident of Indianapolis, he grew up with the Indianapolis Speedway practically in his backyard. Therefore, it’s not surprising to learn this influence set the course for a recent South Atlantic Regional Racing Championship (SAARC) win. Paul explains his initial interest in road racing, “Back in 2003, a friend was racing a historic Porsche. Not long after I joined the Sports Car Club of America (SCCA) and started competing myself.” Today Paul competes on road race courses behind the wheel of a 1985 Camaro across the Southeast, but mostly in Florida.

An Atlanta resident for more than 40 years, Paul retired as an executive vice president with Callan Associates. He was initiated into the Indiana Theta Chapter and received his bachelor of science in chemistry from Purdue University. He went on to earn a master’s degree in chemistry from Emory University and a master’s in industrial management from the University of Tennessee.

Paul credits Phi Delta Theta with having a “significant impact on my life. As an undergraduate, I always enjoyed hanging out at the house and building relationships; those relationships started each year during recruitment. I credit recruitment for helping me cultivate the ability to size up people during the first meeting— a skill that has served me well over the years.”

Locally, Paul remains involved with Phi Delta Theta, serving as treasurer for the Atlanta Alumni Club.
