Phi Delta Theta Introduces Accreditation Program to Guide Chapters As They Pursue Greatness

During the 2022–23 academic year, Phi Delta Theta will begin the transition to its Chapter Accreditation Program. The program will provide a roadmap for chapters as they navigate toward success each year while providing them the opportunity to be appropriately recognized for their hard work.

The Chapter Accreditation Program inherits many of its elements from traditional programs within Phi Delta Theta (Chapter Excellence Awards, Gold Star checklist, Chapter Greatness checklist, General Council Expectations, and Chapter Minimum Standards). Chapters will participate in the Chapter Accreditation Program by interacting with several forms on myPhiDelt. Chapter leaders will submit information to their support team through six milestones during the academic year.

The components of accreditation will fall into one of six buckets: operations, engagement, growth, health/safety, Ritual, and membership education. As mentioned, there will be milestones in which items from each pillar will be due through a series of reports. The milestones fall on the following dates and include items that are pertinent to that point in the chapter’s academic term: August 31, October 1, December 1, January 31, March 1, and May 1.

The benefits accreditation will provide to undergraduate and alumni leaders are ever-growing. First, it will provide both undergraduate and alumni leaders access to real-time reporting viewability regarding the milestones and progress within the program. Not only will alumni leaders be able to support and encourage chapter officers, but the program will also facilitate transparent communication. Additionally, chapter leaders will be able to receive relevant feedback as they submit items within each milestone. Finally, the accreditation process will enable chapter leaders to improve their operations throughout the year while working to improve their chapter accreditation score.

The Fraternity’s trophies we have come to know and strive for will still have a place within the Chapter Accreditation Program. Trophies like the Oxford, Founders, Kansas City, Housser, Phoenix, etc. will still be awarded to individual chapters based on their ability to stand out among the crowd. The process to be recognized with these trophies has been simplified to help capture the most essential information regarding the chapter’s success during the academic year. The transition to the Chapter Accreditation Program does include the cessation of the traditional chapter awards program and application process.

myPhiDelt will serve as the home base for all things chapter accreditation. In the near future, access will be provided to undergraduate and alumni leaders in order to see all items pertaining to accreditation and the goals they should be striving to meet in advance of the academic year starting.

Chapter and alumni officers will receive direct email communication, including a video walkthrough of the myPhiDelt section for accreditation. Chapter leaders, chapter advisory board members, and General Officers will receive additional information during their upcoming webinars.

Phi Delta Theta is excited to see the positive impact the Chapter Accreditation Program will have on its chapters as they work to become the greatest versions of themselves.
