Phi Delta Theta Foundation Welcomes New Team Changes

Within the walls of Phi Delta Theta’s General Headquarters, you can find a roster of individuals who care deeply for the Fraternity and spend their working hours helping to take Phi Delta Theta to new heights. The organization’s family-like culture provides valuable work experience for both Phis and non-Phis.

Not only has Phi Delta Theta General Headquarters recently been re-Certified™ by Great Place To Work® in the United States, in addition, the Phi Delta Theta Foundation is also excited to share a few staffing updates.

This spring, the Phi Delta Theta Foundation has made the following changes to its team. By bringing in new faces and adjusting roles, the Foundation plans to do even more to support education and leadership for the Fraternity.

Katie Rufener

Senior Director of Annual Giving and Advancement Communications

Katie Rufener is excited to serve as the senior director of annual giving and advancement communications for the Phi Delta Theta Foundation. Katie joined Phi Delta Theta in 2018, previously serving as the director of advancement communications after spending four years in alumni engagement with her alma mater, Monmouth College.

Katie’s role focuses on engaging every Phi as an annual donor and educating all Phis on their responsibility to give back to the organization. In her five years at Phi Delta Theta, she has facilitated the growth of the Phi Delt Fund from $450,000 to $1 million annually. This annual growth is attributed to expanded member knowledge of the Foundation’s purpose and the implementation of an annual giving day which focuses on expanding impact for the year.

Brayden Hosman

Director of Advancement

Brayden Hosman is the director of advancement at the Phi Delta Theta Foundation. He provides strategic counsel and objectives to the advancement team and spends his days meeting with alumni along the western seaboard and throughout the United States to discuss opportunities to give back to our Grand Old Fraternity.

In Brayden’s work, he supports Campaign 2030: A Greater Version for Tomorrow by raising funds for member development, health and safety, and people support. He also talks with alumni about chapter leadership funds and scholarships. His passion for leadership and philanthropy allows him to collaborate with alumni to achieve shared goals effectively.

Joanne McCoy

Director of Advancement Services

Joanne began the director of advancement services role in January 2024, after starting her career with Phi Delta Theta in August 2022 as the associate director of advancement services and donor relations. She came to Phi Delta Theta with over twenty-five years of experience encompassing significant roles in administrative support within higher education, advancement services, and leadership in banking as a commercial loan officer.

Joanne supports the Foundation by managing our gift entry process, working with recurring donors, and stewardship efforts. She works directly with donors for donations, inquiries, updates for addresses, giving history records, and other requests.

Linda Brattain

Special Project Coordinator

Linda Brattain has been with the Foundation staff since July of 2001 and is currently serving as the special projects coordinator. Linda is responsible for reporting on named funds as well as preparing documents for both audit purposes and budget analysis. She monitors the data in the database for integrity of information and translates data into usable, actionable information for the formation and execution of fundraising strategies and measures of success.

Linda focuses on researching alumni, charitable foundations, and business corporations to ensure a strategic, integrated program of prospect identification in support of major fundraising campaigns. She also works closely with legal counsel and housing campaign chairmen on the specifics of Phi Delta Theta’s chapter housing grant program.

Todd Simmons

Advancement and Engagement Officer

Todd Simmons joins the Phi Delta Theta Foundation’s staff after serving for five years on the Fraternity staff. Todd most recently served as the director of member success on the membership development and support team, where he created and implemented the new chapter accreditation program.

As the advancement and engagement officer, Todd identifies, qualifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards annual and major gifts from alumni, parents, and friends. His responsibilities include managing a portfolio of prospects, participating in all aspects of the gift cycle, focusing on securing support for Fraternity educational programs and scholarships, Trustees’ Roundtable Society, and Living Bond Society.

Bonnie Schiller

Scholarship and Impact Coordinator

In mid-December of 2021, Bonnie became full-time to the Phi Delta Theta Foundation advancement services team with the goal of maximizing the Foundation’s impact on Phi Delt students. Bonnie returns to the Foundation as the Scholarship and Impact Coordinator. Bonnie has facilitated the two most significant impact years for the Phi Delta Theta Foundation, including $1 million dollars in grants and scholarships for the first time in 2022. As a first-generation college graduate and scholarship recipient, she’s drawn to ensure every student understands the scholarship resources available to them through the Foundation.

Sara Foulk

Administrative Specialist

Sara Foulk has served as the administrative specialist with Phi Delta Theta since July 2023. A lifelong resident of Oxford, Sara was born and raised there. In her role, she supports the Foundation by keeping up to date with alumni, updating member information, and assisting with the Foundation’s administrative needs.
