Phi Delta Theta Fraternity is excited to announce the installation of the Georgia Theta Chapter at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia. Georgia Theta was colonized on December 9, 2017. The colony worked for many months recruiting new members, working towards academic superiority, and building bonds within the Fraternity & Sorority Life community at Augusta University. Their successful petition to the General Council of Phi Delta Theta led to their initiation, chartering, and installation on the weekend of April 20, 2019.
On April 19, Georgia Theta Colony members gathered at a private location in order to be initiated into the Fraternity. Led by General Council Treasurer Moe Stephens, the ceremony was performed by Tyler Wilson (Colony Development Specialist), Alex Atkinson (Director of Expansion), Nick Hartney (Leadership Consultant), Steve Norris (Epsilon South Province President), and a host of alumni represented from Georgia Gamma (Mercer) and Georgia Epsilon (Georgia Southern).
On April 20, the colony members, local alumni, Augusta University Fraternity and Sorority Life Administrators, GHQ representatives, friends, and family gathered at the medical sciences campus of Augusta University for their installation ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by General Council Treasurer Moe Stephens. During the ceremony the crowd heard from university staff, alumni, and undergraduate members from Georgia Theta.
Later on April 20, the new brothers of the Georgia Theta Chapter gathered for a ritual review with Tyler Wilson and Nick Hartney. At the gathering, ritual was reinforced, explained, and the colony was tasked with charting a path forward toward continued success.
The newly installed Georgia Theta chapter of Phi Delta Theta wishes to extend gratitude to all those who helped in making this to campus a tremendous success. They wish to extend a special thank you to Carolyn Zoerb (Coordinator for Greek Life & Student Orgs), Joe Pierce (Director of Student Engagement), and Dr. Scott Wallace (Assistant Vice President & Dean of Students), the Greek councils, and the community at Augusta University. The brothers look forward to continuing their already tremendous success for years to come.
Congratulations to the Georgia Theta Chapter at the Augusta University!
