On February 8, 2023, the Oregon Alpha Emerging Chapter at the University of Oregon was officially installed as a chapter of Phi Delta Theta, initiating thirty-eight members in Eugene.
General Council President Moe Stephens II initiated members of the emerging chapter on Friday night. Accompanying Stephens were General Headquarters staff members Jesse Moyer, Senior Vice President of Member Development & Support Jesse Moyer, Senior Vice President of Engagement & Philanthropy Steve Good, and Chapter Support Coordinator Mark Austin. After a brotherhood retreat Saturday morning to reflect on the accomplishment and set goals for the future, the chapter participated in the installation ceremony in the presence of family and friends, featuring several speakers and the presentation of the charter to chapter President Ben Snead.
Since being installed in 1912, Oregon Alpha has initiated over 1,700 members. “Initiation and installation was something we’d been looking forward to and working towards for a long time. The experience of seeing everyone that supported us, whether it be our fantastic alumni, GHQ, or our parents, all there to celebrate us was really fantastic, and a great way to recognize the chapter for reaching that goal,” said chapter President Ben Snead about the weekend. Oregon Alpha looks forward to continuing to establish themselves on campus and moving back into the chapter house later this year.
Alongside GHQ staff, Oregon Alpha will be supported by the Chapter Advisory Board led by John Smithson, Oregon ’88, and Pi South Province President John Lidstrom, Oregon State ’09.
