Phi Delta Theta Installs Quebec Alpha at McGill University

On April 29, 2018, 25 gentlemen accepted the opportunity to rebuild the Quebec Alpha Colony of Phi Delta Theta at McGill University in Montreal. The Re-Founders exerted great time and effort into successfully bringing Phi Delta Theta back to its first chapter in Canada.

The Quebec Alpha Chapter was originally founded at McGill University in 1902 and on November 23, 2019, the chapter was re-installed to its rightful place in Phi Delta Theta after being inactive for almost 14 years. The weekend’s initiation and installation ceremonies were conducted by the Fraternity’s Executive Vice President and CEO Robert A. Biggs.

The installation ceremony was held at the Thomson House with friends, family, and alumni in attendance. Province President Phil Cantrill shared his continued support for the group and his pride in their ability to make it this far. Brother Biggs shared stories from his 40+ years of service to Phi Delta Theta and how the newly-initiated members can translate those lessons to their future successes.

Quebec Alpha’s newly-elected chapter president, Patrick Bisson mentioned, “Now that we’re re-installed, the work does not end or get easier. Our vision going forward is to dedicate ourselves with the same intensity to securing our legacy at McGill University.”

Founded in 1821, McGill University is one of Canada’s best-known institutions of higher learning and one of the leading universities in the world. With students coming to McGill from over 150 countries, the student body is the most internationally diverse of any research-intensive university in Canada. McGill is recognized around the world for the excellence of its teaching and research programs.

The future is bright for Phi Delta Theta in Canada with the addition of another strong chapter.
