Phi Delta Theta Fraternity is excited to announce the re-installation of the South Carolina Beta Chapter at The University of South Carolina. Forming in March 2, 2018, the colony members recruited outstanding new members, satisfied the requirements to re-charter, and raised over $10,000 for philanthropy over this past year. These accomplishments culminated with their installation weekend on January 25-27, 2019.
On January 25, South Carolina Beta Colony members gathered at the Scottish Rite Center in Columbia, South Carolina for their initiation ceremony. Led by General Council President Dr. Chris W. Brussalis, the ceremony was performed by Tyler Wilson (Colony Development Specialist), Justin Holmes (Senior Expansion Consultant), and a host of local alumni from the South Carolina Beta Chapter and greater Columbia area.
On January 26, the colony members, alumni, University of South Carolina administrators, GHQ representatives, friends, and family gathered at 1208 Washington Place in the heart of downtown Columbia for their installation ceremony. Presided over by Dr. Chris W. Brussalis, colony president Robert Marchant was presented with a replica of South Carolina Beta’s first charter from the chapter’s inception back in October of 1882.
January 27 brought the new brothers of the South Carolina Beta Chapter together for a ritual review with Tyler Wilson, Nash Cantrell (Senior Leadership Consultant), and Justin Holmes. At the gathering, ritual was reinforced, and the chapter was challenged to apply for the T. Glen Cary Award and other recognition for their accomplishments.
The newly reinstated South Carolina Beta Chapter of Phi Delta Theta wishes to extend gratitude to the Scottish Rite Center and 1208 Washington Place for allowing them the opportunity to use their facilities, Doc’s Barbeque for the fantastic catering, the representatives of other chapters, outstanding South Carolina Beta alumni, GHQ representatives, Steve Curtright (Delta West Province President), and Tad Derrickson for making sure that this weekend was a success and a solid starting point for their future as a chapter of Phi Delta Theta.
Phi Delta Theta is very excited to welcome back South Carolina Beta as a chapter and to congratulate its newest brothers on reaching this milestone in the midst of recruitment week where they took 15+ additional members! The Fraternity looks forward to seeing their future unfold and sharing their success!
