Scott Carlson, Drake ’92, was recognized by the Iowa Restaurant Association for his impact on the Iowan and the American restaurant industry. The Iowa Restaurant Association (IRA) is the professional association for restaurant and retail beverages in Iowa. The IRA works to represent, promote, protect, educate and advocate for the industry as a whole.
Each year the Iowa Restaurant Association honors its top hospitality professionals at the annual Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony. The CEO of IRA, Jessica Dunker, arranged a recognition especially for Scott, stating that “he had already won all of the other awards!”
Brother Carlson has been a Managing Officer for the Court Avenue Restaurant & Brewing Co since 1996. Over the past decade, he has opened three local spots in Des Moines, Iowa, including Americana Restaurant Lounge, Gilroy’s Kitchen-Pub-Patio, and Iowa Craft Beer Tent. Brother Carlson has transformed the perception of the Iowa Restaurant industry and is known for his love for people, his perseverance, his immeasurable work ethic, and his uplifting those around him.
