George H. Wood, Missouri ’68, completed his bachelor of science in business administration and master of business administration at the University of Missouri.
Brother Wood boasts an illustrious career spanning four decades in investment management. With a comprehensive background in client and portfolio management and securities analysis, George retired after nearly eighteen years at Pacific Investment Management Company (PIMCO).
During his tenure at PIMCO, George, holding a senior investment management position, was pivotal in working with major clients in diverse sectors such as public funds, foundations and endowments, corporations, and healthcare. His global perspective was evident as he spent time in Munich, Germany, establishing PIMCO’s office following the collaboration with Allianz.
Before his tenure at PIMCO, he held senior positions at Merus Capital Management, Commerce Bank of Kansas City, and Kansas City Life Insurance Company, further enriching his expertise in the financial domain.
Brother Wood’s commitment to his alma mater is evident through his service on the University of Missouri System Investment Advisory Committee and the Finance Department Advisory Committee of the Trulaske College of Business. He is an esteemed member of the Jefferson Club, showcasing his dedication to fostering educational excellence. George’s leadership extends to his role as the chairman of the Curriculum Committee of the Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts, contributing significantly to the field. He also served on the Board of the CFA Society of San Francisco.
In Orange County, Mr. Wood has been actively involved in community affairs. His roles include chair of the Board of Hoag Hospital for two years, participation in the finance, real estate, and investment committees of Hoag Hospital, and contributions to the Laguna Beach School Power Endowment and the Laguna Beach Community Foundation through Board and Investment Committee positions. His impact extends to cultural organizations, where he served as president and board member of Kansas City Young Audiences and contributed to the Boards of Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey and Kansas City Arts Partners.
George and his wife, Susie, also a MIZZOU grad and Kappa Alpha Theta alum, live in Laguna Beach, CA.
