Live Like Lou Communications and Marketing Specialist

About Maycee

Maycee will graduate from Iowa State University in May 2025 with a bachelor’s degree in public relations and minors in event management and political science.

In the summer of 2024, she joined Live Like Lou as our social media intern, primarily focused on our signature workout, The Lou. She was promoted to Communications & Marketing Specialist in the spring of 2025. She previously worked as a marketing intern at Latham Hi-Tech Seeds, assisting internal and external communication and sales efforts. At Iowa State, she was the digital marketing and communications student assistant at the Iowa State University Financial Aid Office. Maycee also served as a marketing intern at Pritchard Companies, where she played a key role in maintaining brand presence and driving sales through digital engagement.

Maycee recalls watching the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge for the first time and wondering, “Why in the world would someone do that to themselves?” While she had no idea what ALS was or what the Ice Bucket Challenge meant, three years later, her dad would be diagnosed with ALS. Since then, she prioritized educating herself and advocating in and for the ALS community.

Maycee’s dad, Mark, first started having symptoms of ALS in 2016, was officially diagnosed in 2018, and passed away in 2019. Maycee was her dad’s full-time caregiver, and ever since ALS impacted her family, it’s been her mission to help those affected by ALS.

Even prior to interning with Live Like Lou in 2024, she was no stranger to our organization—Maycee is a 2024 Onward Award scholarship recipient and a member of Lou’s Crew.

“In all that I do, I always want to remember where I came from and who I can thank for supporting me on my journey. Behind all of my success, are those who I am forever grateful, and in this life, I always want gratitude to be a top of my priority”
