About Sarah

Sarah Maggied joined the Live Like Lou staff team in the spring of 2023 to drive strategy for donor acknowledgment and develop relationships with donors at all levels. Having served as a caregiver for a friend with ALS who passed away four years ago, Sarah’s passion for the ALS community is complemented by her vast experience in fund development for nonprofits.
She has served organizations including the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention, March of Dimes, and Creative Living, with responsibility for fundraising, marketing, and donor relations. Sarah lives with her husband, Jacob, and their three children in Columbus, Ohio. Jacob’s father died of ALS, and the impact this disease has had on their family serves as even more inspiration for Sarah to advance the mission of Live Like Lou.

Sarah is an active volunteer for organizations including Special Olympics Ohio and Food Rescue US, and enjoys spending time outside and cheering on the Cleveland Guardians, as a lifelong fan.

A piece of advice

“It may be that when we no longer know what to do we have come to our real work, and that when we no longer know which way to go we have come to our real journey. The mind that is not baffled is not employed. The impeded stream is the one that sings.” – Wendell Berry
